In 2022 Lofoten Blue Harvest partnered with Smart Seaweed Solutions in a joint venture called Blue Harvest Technologies. It was a marriage between aquaculture and engineering to try and solve the big problems facing seaweed farmers today, the immense job of doing everything manually. Blue Harvest Technologies can draw on multi-decade experience from it's parent companies in seaweed farming, fish farming and sub sea expertise from the oil and gas industry. This amazing company has already produced a prototype which is deployed at one of our locations, right here in Lofoten.
Hortimare is among the leading suppliers in seedling market. The company is already more than 10 years old, which is considered old in this industry, and have been active in Norway for more than 8 years.
The founder, Job Schipper, was instrumental to our decision to begin seaweed cultivation after his method of direct seeding yielded good results during our initial tests. They also provided the seed for the prototype that we tested with Blue Harvest Technologies.|
Marhaug is part of the rich tradition in ship repairs and maintenance that the workshops of Lofoten uphold to this day. They have a dry dock and a mechanical workshop and provide excellent service.
Marhaug built our harvesting rig with a team of creative welders who accepted the challenge even without being provided a single drawing or schematic on how to build it. They also built the frame for the DRISHAC system for Blue Harvest Technologies, albeit with proper drawings this time.
Marhaug is a solid service provider as well as a flexible innovator.
Norwegian Seaweed Association is the most important industry network for seaweed in Norway. The organization is founded by companies that have identified a common goal in developing the market for seaweed products, as well as the products themselves, and is coordinated by The Royal Norwegian Society for Development (Norges Vel).
Norwegian Seaweed Association is, among other things, actively working to develop and promote seaweed for consumption, focusing on food safety, regulations and marketing and sales of seaweed as food on behalf of it's members.
Selstad is our main supplier of aquaculture equipment and were central to helping with the design and construction of the floating frame rope system. Lately they have also done mooring analysis for the new cultivation system from Blue Harvest Technologies.
Selstad has taken an active role in developing the seaweed industry and has several branches along the coast of Norway.
